BIOGRAPHY
This is LOVSKI, birth name Igor Sekulović, is an artist, performer and producer from Bosnia and Herzegovina. At the age of 9 he fled Yugoslavia to escape the war. He left his country behind, but the one thing he brought along was his passion for the sound from his roots.
For the last 6 years Igor toured big European festivals with his Balkan act Projekt Rakija. This highly energetic band was a sure fire hit at many festivals and together with their audiences Projekt Rakijka created a Balkan party, both on and off stage everywhere they went. Meanwhile, as a producer and songwriter Igor immersed himself more and more in his other passion; electronic music. In search of what would be the ultimate danceable and authentic sound for him, he experimented with urban styles, reggae rhythms and the power of analogue synths. In the summer of 2018 Igor decided to pull the plug on Projekt Rakija in order to put all of his energy into a new world beat act in which he could combine sounds from Southeastern Europe with his latest productions. This is LOVSKI is born.
In its first year the band played festivals such as Lowlands, Zwarte Cross and Eurosonic Noorderslag. This is LOVSKI also performed in venues like Paradiso and Melkweg and this spring the band takes its first steps abroad with an album release show in Berlin (in collaboration with Balkan Beats). ‘Borders’, the band’s debut album was released in November and was presented and performed in Melkweg, Amsterdam.
This is LOVSKI combines elements of his Bosnian roots with indie/new wave, African and Tropical sounds. All of this is blended with highly danceable beats and catchy songs. The end result? Bosnian Tropical Electro. Inspired by his place in society This is LOVSKI tries to create a space for people who dare to let go of their own boundaries, people who are not afraid of life without borders and people who do not want to serve one flag. And for everyone who knows what it’s like to start a new life in a new country. This is LOVSKI is a party in no man’s land to which everyone is invited and where everything is possible.
With his exotic surf sound and endless energy, This is LOVSKI knows how to treat his audience to a LOVSKI-style eclectic party. His music takes you on a trip, into a world where borders no longer exist. A world with golden sunsets and endless parties in undiscovered cities. A world where fata morganas of the East and raw realities of the West mix and match seamlessly. This is LOVSKI brings people together and lets the world dance like there’s no tomorrow.
